Woodland Animals
'Woodland Animals'
Reception class mosaic workshop
A collaborative project to create outdoor mosaics using plywood shapes of woodland animals and acorns to be sited externally within the reception class playground.
Working with a small group of children at a time, allowing the children to listen carefully and follow instructions, the children chose from a variety of different materials i.e. mini mosaic tiles, broken crockery, buttons, flat beads, and jewel shapes and had to place and position, securing with exterior PVA adhesive.
The mosaic workshop allowed the children to develop their hand and eye coordination, concentration, aided communication using everyday language to talk about colours, shapes, pattern, arrangements, size, position, distance and ordering.
